Ballistic Windows are increasingly popular for Guard Houses and other Industrial facilities throughout the world, ballistic requirements can vary but typically specifiers require the windows to withstand attack from both 7.62 x 51mm Nato and the 7.62 x 39 AK47 rifle rounds.
Architectural Armour have our own tested ballistic window designs that are certified to both the following specifications;
NIJ Standard 0108.01 is the US National Institute of Justice Standard for the Test and Classification of Ballistic Resistant Materials, within this standard NIJ 01108.01 Level III is a specific test of 5 shots at 15 meters from a 7.62 ( Winchester308) FMJ round.
BS EN1522 1999 which is Test and Classification for Bullet Resistance of Windows, Doors , Shutters and Blinds. EN 1522 Threat level FB5 tests against 3 shots from a 5.56 x 45 mm Nato Full Copper Alloy Jacket soft core with steel penetrator ( type ss109) round travelling at 950 metres per second . EN 1522 FB6 is a test similar to NIJ 0108.01 level III using the 7.62 x 51 mm Nato full metal jacket lead core bullet at 830 metres per second.
